Dear Members and Friends,
After our summer hiatus, the Federation is ready to renew our work and commitment on behalf of our membership and our city. I have had an opportunity to attend many of your meetings before the summer break and I am constantly awed by the volunteer work you are doing to make your communities and our city better.
Sadly, I must report the sudden passing of our Board member, Ed Potillo. Ed was a member of the Hillcrest community, served as the Chair of the Ward 7 Democrats and served as the vice chair of the citywide organization. His energy and insight will be missed.
In June, two new Board members were elected, Toya Carmichael (Hillcrest Community Civic Association) and David Smith (Deanwood Citizens Association). Both Toya and David bring a history of civic activism and knowledge.
Our September 2017 General Assembly will be held on September 26 at All Souls Episcopal Church (Undercroft) 2300 Cathedral Avenue NW from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Our guest speaker is Councilmember Anita Bonds, Chair of the committee on Housing and Neighborhood Revitalization. Councilmember Bonds also serves on the committee of Education, Business and Economic Development and the Judiciary and Public Safety. Please take the opportunity to ask questions of your representative.
President, Federation of Citizens Associations of the District of Columbia
